At The Tasting Bar: Quinta do Infantado Reserva

The Quinta Infatado is based in Pinhão, specifically in the subdistrict of Gontelho where the best Port vineyards can be found. The estate has been owned by the Roseira family since the end of the 19th century and is now managed by brother and sister, João Roseira, vineyard manager/winemaker, and Catherine Roseira, Chief Executive. The vineyards are terraced, very steep and are all worked by hand. The winery aims for a medium-dry style resulting in fortified wine with less grape sugars than other traditional port producers. The Estate Reserve is a ‘vintage character” Port that is made mainly from a single undeclared vintage with amounts from other casks blended in to make a fully accessible, harmonious wine .

Full and aromatic, there are robust aromas of tobacco, cherry and vanilla on the nose. The palate is complex with notes of blackberries, leather and licorice.  All of the flavors are fully integrated and lush. It also has a lingering, smooth licorice finish, and opens up significantly after being opened for a couple days.
